よろしくおねがいします? That's a bit odd to say to somebody in Japanese. You can say this: ありがとう (arigatou). Or, in more casual settings, you can say どうも (doumo)
But isn't "yoroshiku onegaishimasu" kinda means "It's nice to meet you?"

No, no no, that means thank you. Hajimemashite, 始めまして, means "nice to meet you".
